Friday 11th January
To the Charlie Brown exhibition for the research. When I was reading the Peanuts comic, I feel that the character Charlie Brown is really related to me especially his personality. He was Depicted as a "lovable loser, just like me, even fail about everything but still try the best about doing as hard as we can.
I tried to do the research about Charlie Brown’s personality, while I found out the character Linus van Pelt is more interesting.
He is smart and kind, his security blanket just like his comfort zone, but he can do anything when his sister stole his security blanket. I feel like this just like me, I can’t do anything if I step out the comfort zone.
Monday 14th January
The idea of “If I step out the comfort zone = I can’t do anything” I think is interesting, just like how I feel when I wasn't in the safe place. But I feel like I’m not developing myself if I do this concept, so I try o think about”How will it be after if I step out the comfort zone?’
“will my world be better? will I make more friends?” I found out the quote that people told about is the thing in future, the thing that people can’t make sure about.
“No one can make sure that after people step out the comfort sone WILL BE BETTER”
I collect some encouraging quote that is contradiction, and to find out what should I do to let people can “feel best and do best” in or out of the comfort zone.
Tuesday 15th January
I develope my concept into”you will never know if you never try”, people won't know about what will happen in the future if people never try to step out of the comfort zone.
As a publication,I want to make my publication fun and interesting, even without the text people still can understand the story behind (strong narrative).
I found out it will be more interesting if I combine illustration and collage in my publication.

drew an illustration of the model
using the drawing isn't fit the directing part, so I decide to use the paint to colour part of the clothing
I feel that people can be more focused on the garment rather than the model, and its work well.
Wednesday 16th January
Thinking about choosing the garment. I choose the colour RGB, cause I feel that the colour is so different can let the styling be more childlike. The only thing that I think is difficult is to not making the styling too corny, while the clothing I get is hard to combine them together.
I decide to change the top, I choose the clothing with lots of illustration on it and done in different style, and it went will.
Thursday 17th January
The first things I think about of Step out the comfort zone is walked out of the door.
But the door is too obvious, so I think about step out the box, step out myself etc.
while after the discussion, using the box can't really tell what the concept is so I decided to use the door as a set.
I should use the door in the room? built a door? or draw a door?
with the limit time, the only choice that I have is to draw a door and use the door that in the room (or any door).
The “normal door can’t show that people come out of the wonderland, so I decided to design the illustration style of the door.
Using the cardboard doesn't work, it makes the image without dynamic activities, so I choose to paint on the fabric so that when the model opens the door the image will be more powerful.
Friday 18th January
For the final shooting, everything is fine, just the lighting is horrible. At first, we choose at night cause we think it will be fine if it's indoor, while its super dark, so we decide to shoot in the morning, while the light in the morning is bad either.
We re-shoot it after I borrow the lighting. the original image looks boring, and I make sure that I can only use collage to make it more interesting.
Monday 21st January
After the test collage,I found out the college is more difficult then I thought.It will be corny if using the wrong colour or the wrong picture, so I try to make the collage more simple(not like m/m pairs..)
At first, my idea is using different image with different tone and stack together, but I didn't think about how well will it match together, and I should think about this before shooting(plane everything first)
I decided to just use illustration on the image and not make it complicate black & white to colourful to tell the story about that if step out the comfort zone it might be better.
Tuesday 22nd January
I want to make my publication more interesting to read, so I decide to make a concertina book. While after I finish choosing the pictures, this kind of book isn’t fit my images(cant show the story clearly)
After all, I choose to make a”simple book”, just like the magazine book, it's easy to read and people can understand the concept easily.
I want my publication can be mass production, so it has to be easy to make (like a magazine) and people can easily read on the bus or on the tube, So I think this is that best way to make my publication.
